The Razored Web

Web Design & Development

Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church (Feb 2003)

Woods Church, located in Severna Park, Maryland, has a large number of ministries and programs that reach out to the local and world community. Woods' web presence had been minimal up until the re-design by the Razored Web. The former design was a myriad of technologies including Java applets, Flash and frames. Navigation was limited to a thirteen-item menu.

The first stage of the re-design involved getting a new design based on the current information. Each of the groups within the church was to determine how the new site could benefit them, and the new design would incorporate all these changes. However, since this process can be very time-consuming, Woods decided that it wanted an interim design that was more friendly.

Currently, the Razored Web has created a site that offers a consistent look between pages, as well as a dynamic menu that will not overwhelm visitors. We are entering the next phase of design which will take into account the decisions made by each group. Using this information, we can design a simple, robust site that interacts well. During this phase, we will also make sure that the site meets accessiblity and usability standards. Due to the ever-changing nature of the home page, our developers have made an easy-to-use interface available to the Woods administrative staff that allows them to make changes to the content without the need to have any technical knowledge or training.

Forms & Information Workflows

Missile Defense Agency

Our Forms expert brings to our company his experience being involved in the conversion of 250 forms from the proprietary FormFlow format to PDF. He was responsible for personally re-creating 45 of MDA's own forms to offer a consistent look-and-feel, as well as making the forms more intuitive and usable. He was also involved in the development of the Web interface used to search the forms repository, and he created a method that allows users to import their profile information, eliminating the need for them to enter their personal information over and over.

Document Management

U.S. Government

Our Document Management team worked for four years converting millions of pages for various government agencies, including the General Services Administration and the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization. Once in the handy PDF version, they also created ways to keep all the converted information handy by employing a variety of technologies, including Javascript, Visual Basic, and Active Server Pages.

Users of the Web interfaces enjoyed being able to retrieve the documents easily without having to search through locked safes or filing cabinets. They also enjoy the extra space in their offices once they were able to destroy their paper originals, knowing that the digital versions were safely stored on their servers with backup copies on CD-ROM.
